Distributed
Searching
FindPlus®
distributed searching is a new integrated feature of dtSearch Desktop,
dtSearch Web, and dtSearch Network that conveniently allows a single
search request to span everything from local drives to remote servers.
Operating through a single user interface, FindPlus® allows searching
of files and other data throughout an organisation, without the need
to collect the data in a monolithic repository.

For example,
a dtSearch Desktop user could add a "FindPlus®-enabled"
pre-built dtSearch Web server index to the list of indexes to search.
From the Search dialog box in dtSearch Desktop, the user can then select
the remote index to search along with local indexes.
|
| With
dtSearch FindPlus, a single search request can span multiple
local and remote locations. |
|
Search
results will include documents from both local and remote locations,
collectively organised into a single view. (See below.)
|
| FindPlus
search results can encompass both local and remote documents,
such as this Web page retrieved by the dtSearch Spider. |

Technical
Note
FindPlus®
Distributed Searching uses an XML-based protocol for exchanging and
aggregating search information. Sample source code is included with
the dtSearch Engine.
