New 7.2 release adds Open Office support; programmable Spider interface and Linux version gets Terabyte Indexer.
The version 7.2 range of products (dtSearch Desktop, Network, Web, Publish, Engine) have complete OpenOffice file format support (Open Office 1 and 2 formats) and also support Microsoft 2003 Word XML and Excel XML formats. Developers using the dtSearch Engine now get the much demanded .NET API for the Spider, and the Terabyte indexer in the Linux version.

New Language Pack feature: Chinese, Japanese and Korean (CJK) character breakerThe LEP400 range of Language Packs is now supplied with a language analyser which provides basic single character breaking and punctuation filtering for Hanzi, Kanji and Hanja. This allows users of Desktop, Network, and Web to make string searching on Chinese, Japanese and Korean documents. The analyzer breaks all other other languages currently supported by the LEP400 range and Korean Hangul text in the usual, space delimited 'word', manner. The analyzer can index documents containing text in any combination of the scripts supported by the LEP400 range (i.e. Latin, Greek, Cyrillic) plus Traditional or Simplified Chinese, Japanese and Korean. An evaluation version of the Chinese Analyser is available for download, please contact us by e-mail for a password to download.

Romanian stemming added to Language Packs
Support for Romanian has now been added to the LEP400 and LEP403 Language Extension Packs. Use of the language packs with dtSearch substantially improves recall when search expansion using stemming is used. More information and pricing can be found at our Language page.

Bulgarian (Cyrillic) and Slovenian are the latest additions to the LEP400 and LEP403 Language Extension Packs. This boosts the number of languages with stemming support in dtSearch to 25, with more in development.
Language Packs add language specific stemming rules and noise (stop) words to the dtSearch Developer products dtSearch Engine, Web and Publish. Use of the language packs substantially improves recall when search expansion using stemming is used. More information and new 'bundle' pricing can be found at our Language page.
New
add-on product now in BETA
Enstant is a new add-on product for dtSearch that fully automates the indexing process. Of particular value to users of dtSearch Web or Network that scan in small batches of documents (e.g. the daily post) and need to give users 'instant' search access. Further details here. The new index format incorporated as an option (beta) into the current dtSearch 6.5 range of products has recently been tested with an index of over 1 Terabyte of documents. The test results demonstrate that sub second searching even with complex queries can be acheived with an index of over 1 Terabyte of data. Happy 2005!
Do you know
that 31 July 2005 is the deadline for the new German language spelling reform,
after that date all official publications in Germany must comply with the new
spellings. However, private citizens in German speaking countries can continue
to use the old spellings. If you or your organisation need to search on German
documents you should make sure that the search tool you are using can understand
both old and new spellings. Using dtSearch Engine with the Western European
Language Pack for example will ensure that your application or Internet/Intranet
site can find documents spelled either with a "scharfes s" like this:
'Straße' even if a search query uses a double-s instead like this: 'Strasse'.
Ukraine has a new
President but the languages remain the same. Our Eastern
European Language Pack includes Ukrainian and Russian as well as
8 other languages and will ensure you never miss a document or web page because
you forgot to use the correct word form.
